Background/Historical Context~
The Isle of Alfreda was once an old populated isle. The old inhabitants left after fear of getting attacked and slaughtered. The isle has since become unpopulated till these brave families decided to settle and build up the isle town!
The Newton Family~
Henry John and Catheryn Mary Newton are the weavers of the town. Henry and Catheryn's grandparents were slaves and they were freed while Henry and Catheryn's parents were young. Henry's family moved to Wales and worked on forming a weaving business, but as Henry was the third son he had no true reason to stay. He would go on to move to London where he would wind up to meet Catheryn. Catheryn's family worked in a weaving factory and she grew up always longing for a countryside lifestyle. They had a whirlwind romance and as her parent's approved the couple married. When they stopped at a small town they heard of how three couples decided to settle Alfreda Isle! They met the three couples and were shocked to find they were accepting to people of their skin! This was the final factor and they have joined the four founding families of Alfreda Isle!
The Alston Family~
Meet David Martin and Maria Rose Alston. The Alston's will be the town's dairy suppliers. David Martin grew up in a small town where his parents continued to work the family farm till their death when he was young. David was taken into the care of Maria's parents who were the town's main dairy suppliers. Maria and David grew up close and their bond grew into love! Feeling like they needed more a legacy they loved the idea of settling Alfreda Isle!
The O'Hara Family~
Meet Chester S. O'Hara and his wife, Anna Fitz O'Hara. They will run the town apple orchards. Chester grew up in Ireland but his widowed mother sent him to his uncle's orchard in Kent. There he sent his youth learning how to run the apple orchard. He met Anna while he was running into town on errands as she and her father were visiting their relative who happened to be the town's postal man. Chester and Anna had an official courtship and they were married upon her 17th birthday! They were very happy to take his uncle's apples and start their own orchard.
The Van Bakker Family~
Meet Ernst Johann and Antonia Margarthe Van Bakker. They hope to start a candle business so thus they have bees to form wax and pigs as well to help them get by. Ernst was born in the Netherlands and when he was still an infant his family moved to Germany where they stayed till he was around 12. Around that time Ernst's father died leaving his wealth to his wife. As Ernst was not the wife's child and Ernst was his illegitimate son he was kicked out from all he ever knew. Ernst worked on a ship till the age of 20 when he decided to leave that life. He formed a bond with an older man who worked a candle business. The old man become a second father to Ernst and when the old man died he divided his belongings and small wealth between his granddaughter and Ernst. The granddaughter happened to be Antonia and the pair fell in love and connected through their grief. They are very enthusiastic to start their own candle business on Alfreda Isle!
